So a few weeks ago the ever-expanding (avl crew) went to the wonderfull vintage store in town called 'revolve' and performed our new album 'WHEN ITS HAPPENING' in its entirety for the first time ourside of the press-on shed. Its part of a new live concert series called @secretsoundslive and im gratefull we were invited. It was a blast and everyone did a great job. Thank you to @secretsoundslive , @mountainwaterfilms , will eccleston cameras and andy giles on all the audio and mixing! Wonderfull new folks to have met. Supatight delivered a set at Secret Sounds Live, hosted in-store at Revolve Mercantile in West Asheville, combining their distinctive funk sound with their love of tacos in their December 2023 performance. Ahead of the release of their new album "BIG SPLASH," they played a mix of both classic and new tracks for viewers. This performance showcased their funky grooves and built excitement for the upcoming album, offering viewers a taste of the energetic rhythms and vibrant sound Supatight is known for.

The compositional complexity of our material made performing for Secret Sounds especially challenging. We have been recording our debut album, and it was interesting to notice the difference between preparing for recording our album and preparing to record for Secret Sounds.

The four songs performed here are all from my album “Magnolia” that came out February of this year. It was an undertaking to try to arrange these trio improvisatory pieces into a completely solo set, and I’m very happy with how it came out. Moving the instrumentation from completely acoustic to entirely electric brings a different feel to these songs, but I feel the emotion and heart of the music still comes through clearly.
Secret Sounds was the perfect format for me to try these songs in a different way. It was very similar to how we recorded the album to begin with - live, single take, single room recording that placed just as much emphasis on the feeling in the room as the music we could capture. The audio and video came out beautifully.
